The 412 Youth Zone had the privilege of supporting our Gay/Straight Alliance, Rainbow, at the 2023 Pittsburgh Pride Parade this past June! This marked the group’s first-ever Pride celebration since its formation. Young adults and staff from the 412 Youth Zone coordinated a fun and enthusiastic group who despite the heat showed up to demonstrate their support for the LGBTQIA+ community in downtown Pittsburgh.

Decked out in glitter and pride colors, 412 Youth Zone members cheered as they spotted friends in the crowd who came to support them. The group kept their upbeat energy for the entire afternoon and passed out Pride gear to parade goers. They snapped pictures with fans and other marchers and happily embraced volunteers wearing t-shirts brightly advertising “free mom/dad hugs!” as they crossed the Andy Warhol Bridge.

It was an amazing afternoon as young adults and staff from the 412 Youth Zone learned more about each other and the many organizations represented for the 50th anniversary of Pittsburgh Pride.
