On August 7th-11th, 12 youth ages 16-21 from the YZ attended the 2023 Older Youth Retreat at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. This year’s theme, It’s the Will Not the Skill, challenged youth to learn new things, participate in activities and meet new people from across the State. Youth experienced what life on a college campus is like by staying in dorms, following schedules, and utilizing campus facilities. They each selected an activity session where they participated multiple times throughout the week, including activities such as Makeup with Frank, String Art, Fiber Arts, and Cooking and Baking Essentials. They also attended daily Peer group sessions and finished off the week with a talent show and field games. The youth that attended had a great time and are already looking forward to attending next year’s retreat!
