The spirit of Thanksgiving was alive and thriving in our drop-in center on November 27! The Youth Zone community came together in a way that emphasized the meaning of the holiday with gratitude, connection, and shared joy. The entire event was a beautiful reminder of the special bond within our 412 Youth Zone family.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the shared meal, which was prepared by our dedicated staff. There was an aroma of homecooked dishes which filled the air all week, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly made everyone feel at home. We served perfectly roasted turkey to creamy mashed potatoes and an array of desserts that could rival any bakery. The feast was a labor of love that brought smiles to every face.
What made this Thanksgiving celebration truly special this year was the presence of our returning alumni, who joined active youth members to celebrate. It was heartwarming to see familiar faces back in the space, sharing stories of their journeys and reconnecting with the community that has supported them along the way. One of our Youth Zone OG’s, as she referred to herself as, quoted to staff during the meal, “I may not have a lot and I don’t have a little but I promise I’m doing alight.”
This Thanksgiving gathering was more than just a meal; it was a celebration of resilience, growth, and the strong ties that make the 412 Youth Zone such a unique and supportive place. To everyone who made this day so memorable—whether you prepared food, shared a story, or simply brought your energy to the space—we are endlessly thankful for you. Here’s to carrying this spirit of gratitude and connection into the season ahead.
